Do NOT under any circumstances send them a “deposit” or holding fee, or any sort of money up front. You will never see your item, and they are not from the town or city they claim to be but are in fact hundreds of miles away.

Recorded message of female claiming to be from Amazon - regarding my non-existent order for £500 and saying a block had been put on it and to press button 2. Didn't address me by name so I ignored it and put phone down.

Very pushy but convincing girl at the end of the phone - said they were calling because I had entered a competition to win a trip to New York and so was eligible for ten free lines on Euro Millions. This is the 3rd different number used by the same scammers. Unusual card transaction £300 & £1000. Odd they never tell whose card or what card and always sane amount. Need to be gulible to get conned by these numpties. If in doubt call the number on the back of your card. Never react to their suggestions. Dont be fooled.
