The people on the other end of this phone have confirmed by letter they are delivering me a phone on 23rd August 2012 and that my current phone will be switched off on 26th. I am now receiving phone calls telling me I am entitled to a free upgrade and cheaper phone rate. They ring me every day and always when I am trying to get my little one down to nap. Four days ago was the first call I picked up the phone the person asked who I was and replyed with "not who your looking for as I don t know this number, who are you?" and they hung up.

When I answered they hung up! So annoying, I assume spammers - I'm on the preference service too, so where do they get details from?
The caller says they are from the Royal Mail and that I have a package being held in Central London. They want payment to release it. The cost is minimal but felt like a scam. Asked them to send me an email. On receipt, it definitely looks like a scam. I think if postage is underpaid, you get a note to say so through the mail. I'm marking it as dangerous as my gut tells me this is a phishing attack but I can't confirm.

Had an automated cll from this number stating it was Lloyds bank fraud prevention and I should either press ‘1’ or call them back. The voice also read out my full name correctly. I thought this was unusual but I hah had difficulty in using my Lloyds card around 30 minutes earlier in Sainsburys. This number does not appear to be the correct Lloyds fraud number at all. Be wary

Automated call From local number. Message said fraudulent transaction has been found on VISA, press 1 to cancel this transaction. After hanging up at this point, the caller appeared to stay on the line for a couple of minutes to catch me making an outgoing call to my bank. Verified this by calling my landline from a mobile which rang engaged, a short time later I tested my landline again and it was clear.

This was someone pretending to want to renew insurance on the washing machine that they claimed was in my wife's name.
We refuse to answer calls we do not recognise this number being one of them
