SCAM - life insurance scam. Avoid!
Unlike the preceding reports of nuisance calling, someone from this number just tried on a criminal scam with me, which I quickly recognised from a prior attempt a couple of years ago: Offer of a "refund" of ?2000 compensantion of a Barclays loan mis-selling - all nonsense, as I havent had any kind of loan in years. The scam is that you will get ?2000 couriered to you, but you have to write some kind of money order to make it all happen - I didnt give them time to give all the details, as I soon recognised
Fraud - automated voice claiming to be from Amazon stating that your account has been compromised asking to press 1 to be connected to a premium call.

I am suspicious of this phone number. The man phoning spoke good English with a strong accent and was convincing. He told me he was from AV (antiviral program) and that my recent payment of £149 had not gone through. He offered me a discount policy at £29 for the next year. Re The failed bank payment, the bank itself stopped this money and when I spoke to my bank it was decided that the £149 seemed high for an anti viral program and there was a possibility of fraud. This is the HP support number. I had been speaking to them about an issue with my HP laptop, so they did have a legitimate reason to call me a few days ago, but the case had been closed so I chose not to take this call.

Fraud, some number from London called me claiming there was a warrant out for me for tax evasion. Which for a first point, pretty much isn't possible as I'm employed with a large company who do my taxes for me. This is the UK after all, I don't do that myself. And second, after I gave my name I asked what organisation it was that was calling me before I'd be willing to continue and they just hung up on me.
