DON'T SPEAK if you don't recognise the number - JUST LISTEN, wait for them to speak first. I was contacted by this number. A recorded message saying that £300 had been taken from my card for £300 to Amazon and also £1100 to another supplier I do not deal with. As usual with these calls I was asked to press different number. I immediately hung up and checked my accounts. to find nothing had been taken.

I received an SMS that appears to have been sent by HSBC. This shows an one-time password for a transaction of around £983 and asks me to urgently call this number (03309124638) if I do not recognise this transaction. BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM! I have called HSBC (on their true number and not the fake number mentioned above) and they have confirmed what was obvious to me: THIS IS A SCAM. Your account is safe and has not been compromised. IGNORE THE TEXT MESSAGE and do NOT call that number. That's all!
