I contacted EON and they confirmed that was not anything wrong with the meter and they did not know why I had had that call. Reply

This is one of the most persistent callers I have come across. Eventually, I found the contact number to remove yourself from their list. (http://www.tnsglobal.com/uk/have-you-been-contacted-for-research/telephone) They claim not to sell on your details from calling numbers on this page.

Got a call from this number saying they are from HMRC and I have criminal record for outstanding tax payments. They said if I don’t pay today over the phone a warrant will be out for my arrest. got a call from this number and they hung up when I answered. few mins later someone rang quoting my name and address saying we had been getting unwanted calls. they could block these calls etc sounded good till charge of 1.90 a month mentioned. i asked who reported these calls but he said it was a general thing people in this area were suffering from. after hung up I checked the number of who called and was same as first caller who had hung up. these are the very same people we dont want calls from surely?
