Claimed to be from Virgin Media about an internet connection. Worrying signs, firstly did not have my name as a contact or any reason to indicate I have an Virgin account. Also they are using a local number, for a very small area, which to my knowledge does not have a Virgin office.

This number appeared on my mobile as a forwarded call. I don’t have any calls forwarded to my mobile. This made me suspicious straight away. I didn’t answer the call. Apparently it is a loft insulation scam. They are after your details.

Called me twice so far today. Automated voice claiming to be from Mastercard/Visa, saying that £600 has been withdrawn from my account and to press 1 immediately, as my account has been compromised. Scaremongering and fraudulent. I hung up each time.

Very persistent if they don t get a response. Try to call at all times of the day,evening and weekends. Either block the number, or answer to get rid of them. If you don t the phone will keep ringing. I have a truecall unit (from www truecall. co uk) so these harrassers simply get a messsage not to call again. Shouldnt have to pay money to stop these calls though in my opinion.

A woman with a West African accent phoned me at 4.30 pm on 12th July 2012. She asked me how my "claim" was progressing and whether she could help. Obviously a telemarketing call because there was the usual buzz of conversation in the background. I ve been getting constant calls from this number which have gone "dead" when I pick up for weeks. Yesterday they finally told me they were from Vodaphone and my number was one of their numbers so they needed it back. They needed to move me to their contract.
