Dropped what I was doing & raced downstairs to answer persistent call. Man with an unidentifiable accent garbled something against a cacophony of background noise sounding like the Call Centre from Hell. I asked him to repeat his sentence. He said " can I speak to the owner of the business?" Puzzled, I said " business?" At which point he rudely disconnected the call. Called at 0930 by Microsoft who advised that I have a "computer problem" I asked for and given this number for verification. BEWARE this is a confidence trick - switch the call to BT Protect if you have it.

Also, I just tried phoning the number back and it doesn't even exist - so somehow the scammer is making out that they are phoning from a local number to look more legit.

A recorded message warned me that my bank account was to be charged to continue my membership of Amazon Prime after a free trial. I don't belong to Amazon Prime! I did not dial 1 as suggsted to speak to someone, particularly because although I do have an Amazon account my name was not given in the call. Phishing at best, access to my bank account possibly?
I answered this call and the lady on the other end said she was calling from OVO Energy, as it appeared as a mobile number I didn t trust or believe her and ended the call!!!! I ve now blocked the number!!!!

27th July 2018 caller claiming that the HMRC had launched a court action against me, but did not know either my name or address.
