Automated call about tax evasion and that there was a warrant out for my arrest

Called re: a (fictional) car crash that my housemate was supposedly in (bill payer for the phone line). Only have his title and his last name. When asked when the accident happened they say 'in the last few years' and when asked for the address of the company they only say 'South West London'. When I said that we were registered with the Telphone Preference Service and the unsolicited call was illegal and could they add the number to their Do Not Call list, they hung up

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 12249246xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with inusrance marketing, PPI - Industrial Hearing Injury, but also loans - financial manage

An Induan sounding man claiming to be from BT saying they had reports of problems with my internet connection. String them along for a while and asked eventually for him to give me my BT account number to prove he was from BT. Just talked me down saying it was my choice to believe him or not and eventually he hung up.
