They had called me on about 6 previous occasions before i answered. Said they were from BT and E and had taken over EE who were my service provider and could offer me discounted calls . I asked if they were already my service provider why weren't they discounting me anyway. They then got round to asking me if I used a landline for making business calls. Not clear what the purpose of the call was and have blocked them.

My daughter got stung for £55 for a call to HMRC. Its clearly not the HMRC they would never be allowed to charge extortionate telephone rates and I've phoned them on a number of occasions without charge. I suspect its a scam number that then redirects to the HMRC. DO NOT PHONE THEM - look on your last tax bill as the HMRC website doesn't make it easy to find a number to call.

An Asian caller soon transferred me to a guy in Brighton making an illegal call to charge me an extortionate amount for 3 years cover after the warranty has expired on a washing machine that I've never owned. These UK centres should be closed down and fined by our "caring" system.
