just got a call from this number. the man on the other line - someone name john something - said he was calling from "Allied Interstate" about an unpaid debt. I said that he must be mistaken as I don t have any debt. He said "we will see" and asked for personal information. I hung up. Obviously not trustworthy!

The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. They are crooks who once they find a victim will ask them for personal details and /or credit card/bank details "So we can proceed with our refund to you" They then commit identity fraud or empty your bank account. "Jack" called from the "Credit Investigation Department"... I asked which company this "Department" worked for, which at first he wouldn t answer. Eventually he said it was a UK Government Agency... When I pressed him further and explained that I signed up to the TPS and he should not be calling me, he told me to "Shut up and listen!". When I laughed at him and told my colleagues around me what he d just said, he hung up (unsurprisingly!)

Just received a call from this number and an Asian sounding guy told me I had overpaid on my loan and could claim compensation (I ve never had a loan) when i told him this and asked to be removed from their calling list I was told to "f### off". Not a happy bunny.
