Very pushy but convincing girl at the end of the phone - said they were calling because I had entered a competition to win a trip to New York and so was eligible for ten free lines on Euro Millions. Sounded vaguely legitimate until she started asking me for personal details - date of birth, etc... "to confirm I was over 18". I let the phone ring. When it finished I called 1471 and got the number 08001114612.As with others, I got no answer when I called the number back.

3 phone calls in 3 days from this no. Having searched this site and others to read reports of Windows scams etc. I decided to answer this one. An Asian man asked if I was Miss Christine. I said "Who? Who s calling?" He hung up, I didn t for another 3 minutes, so presumably prevented him from bothering someone else. Reporting to ICO.

Left a answer machine message on a work phone claiming to be HRMC conducting an investigation into a fraud matter concerning the organisation we work for and asking to ring the number back.
