This was a call from somebody purporting to be calling from the Times subscription department about a problem with my account. I was just suspicious and phoned the main Times newspaper subscription service number. They confirmed that the call from the Colchester number was genuine.

Had a few pushy phonecalls today trying to buy a bed in a hurry. started at expensive beds and ultimately went for what I had instock and a 'Best Mattress' wanted to send in same day courier. Said it was going to London but wouldn't give me a post code so we could have delivered ourselves tomorrow. London destination. BH2, Bournemouth card address, Phone number reporting to be in the Blackburn area. Card declined when put through machine. When I suggested my suspicions of fraud to her she put phone down.

These type of companies work from a dialling system where numbers are selected at random. They say they are calling about a recent accident on the off chance that the 1 in a million (slightly exaggerated) people they call say they have been in one. I like to have fun with these people and keep them on the phone asking lots of questions thinking they have secured me.......but if they get me on a bad day then they get a lot of abuse. Three calls this morning never answer always block the call straight after. Yes you can block any number even on a landline here is the number if you're a BT customer 14258. iPhone also has a blocking service on 1-4 block shows in called number list straight away.
