I have stopped answering these suspicious calls for the time being - too busy. As with the one I received at the same time yesterday, when I was having breakfast, I concluded the caller was another criminal trying to persuade me to give them access to my computer so they could infect it. That is because the majority of the calls I get are of that nature. The likelihood was all the greater because, like yesterday s call, it was purportedly from an area where I do not know anyone.

Its not just AO I just received a call from a young woman claiming to be from boots appliances, in the pretence of confirming delivery details etc. In fact her sole purpose was to sell insurance cover! She repeated every detail of my delivery, which I already know, told me they can remove my old appliance, which I already know etc etc etc then asked me why my old appliance was broken! They called I answered, they hung up and when I attempted to call back the phone went dead. Several attempts were made to return there call as I am very security aware. However as no msg or call was made to my house I assume its a PPI or cold calling scam. I will retract any commets if I find they are untrue for now my view is dont bother to answer.

A man claimed he was from a company called "Speed" who rudely demand to know why I hadn t made a claim for the accident I d apparently been in. The last accident I d been involved in was a few years ago and upon hearing me start to explain this he hung up before I finished speaking. This is clearly a scam hoping to either get some personal details to allow them to commit identity fraud or to falsely extract money from me.

Called late Sunday evening. Our VOIP phone not currently working, but a blank message was left on my message service & got sent to my email, together with record of dialling number. No idea who s behind the call.

I read in the press that the STAR 9500 smartphone has been found to have a factory installed trojan virus. So I disabled my STAR 9500 and moved the sim card to an old phone. A few days later the old phone reported a missed call and a text message. The message was just this number. I didn t call it back.
