This was a recorded message to say illegal activity had been on my internet which would be cut off in 24 hours. I was to press 1 to speak to someone. Clearly an attempt to get into my computer so cut it off.

Scammers, said from company Smart Selections about loft insulation. The company was dissolved by comulsory strike off in 2018, when asked for a return phone number they hung up.
Enjoyed stringing him along, the man from First Response / MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) I asked if he meant the Men In Black, as he was calling to see if my RTA had been sorted out, I asked which one he was referring to as I said I have had few LOL, he couldn t give the information he was referring to but said in the last 2.5 years. I said yes I have had a few - he then hung up - shame. In the words of Homer Simpson wasted my time and his - not quite sure what he was trying to get

Claimed to be from "British Technical Department" and there was a problem with my internet. Hung up when I asked if his company was a division of Openreach. I only answered because it appeared to be a local call for me.
SCAM Automated message said it was Inland Revenue and that I hadn't paid my taxes. To avoid a court date and possible jail time press 1 to speak to an agent. A trace says the number originates in Russia. No chance I believe any of that rubbish.

When I stopped the call and tried using 1471, the tape was still running and over ran the call I was trying to make.
A man called my telephone to ask me to access my computer so he can fix the issue with the internet connection. I had not reported a fault, he was not calling from my provider and used a wrong mame for me. So, I hung up. The following day I discovered that the internet connection on my son s laptop had indeed been disabled! He must have visited a dodgy website but it is worrying that they could retrieve my telephone number from it.
