Called today on mobile aledgedly from HMRC stating investigating tax fraud and unless I responded a warrant would be issued for my arrest. Clearly a scam
My callblocker app said it was to do with pensions so obviously cold calling.
Call is a recorded message claiming that taxed is owed to the HMRC, but no name/address or other details are given as to who the call is intended for and that if you don't press 1 to be connected to an advisor immediately, then "a warrant will be issued and you will be arrested" - clearly a phishing scam, as even if HMRC notified people about outstanding tax owed by pre-recorded telephone message (they don't), they certainly don't threaten arrest via recorded message and they usually tend

Just had a call from this number, an asian lady called Kate Brown(???) who said that my IP address was being used by others around the world so they will be cancelling user licence on my IP address. The second option was they will talk me through how to block so I wont be compromised. Told her that I was computer illiterate and could she ring back later and speak to my hubby. It was a voice mail telling me my internet provider would cut off my internet in the next 24 hours and to speak to someone press 1. I think thought this to be a scam so put the phone down.
here is evidently another round of these tiresome calls, claiming to be from a law firm , regarding an alleged minor car accident. From the accent, it is probably from the Sub-Continent and clearly rather sadly fraudulent. Ignore all protestations to the contrary.
