This number called me and it turned out to be Southampton Audi arranging an MOT. It was odd that it showed up as as a Portsmouth area code though, maybe they use a call center now.
This is a timeshare type company making offers that seem too good to be true, and you know what they say about things that appear to be too good to be true!!! When you ask to be removed from their list they refuse and get abusive. Fraud. Says they are M&S bank and your card is compromised. Try to get you to click links to “cancel” payments, but what you are really doing is authorising cryptocurrency payments. Very clever. Phone looks like an old M&S helpline number.
Phone version of chuggers, (charity muggers). I won t donate on principle to those who call me. I don t mind charity donating but I object to being telephoned when I opted out under tele-preference.

These jokers called me today addressing me as "Mr Steven" I said where are you calling from? He said "Nationwide" I said "Really? Well then you should know that in Britain nobody is Mr first name either just use their first name or Mr with their last name". This confused my thickly accented Indian friend greatly but I think he understood me in the end. Just spoken to O2 regarding this number and the calls my wife had been getting. They confirmed that the number does belong to O2 and is not a scam, it is their Customer Research (for want of a better description) calling to ensure she was getting the right deal for her and to see if she wanted to upgrade, so I suppose they re Market Research/Sales. Perfectly safe to answer. If in doubt, just don t give answers to questions you feel uncomfortable about.
