They rang us up claiming there was a money withdrawal from one of my parents' bank cards or £8000, even though after checking no withdrawals were made.

The PEST is: Domestic & General :( They are a cold-calling pest phishing for new Loft Insulation contracts. I have automated calls on a daily basis for 2 months now - 3 rings and they hang up - never leaving a message. I wish the government would provide the regulators with some teeth to prosecute all these highly persistent phone pests making MULTIPLE nuisance calls. I changed my number relatively recently to avoid this, and I m ex-directory and I ve "opted out" so they should check before they call.

IT’S EASY TO STOP THESE CALLS!!! Simply answer the call and pretend to be interested in what they are offering. You will probably be passed to a "manager" who will arrange for someone to visit you. Go along with it, make the appointment and when the salesman turns up tell him you are not interested and have wasted their time because they are wasting yours by ignoring the law and cold calling you. They hate having their time wasted This has worked for me and gives you a great feeling of having got them back

Broad Indian accent, difficult to understand but the general gist I got was he wanted my details so he can save me 30-40% off my bill. Had to press for details on what bill he was saving me money on, he stammered and, almost like he was guessing, said my O2 mobile phone bill. Nobody in this house has any O2 devices so be safe - don't give these scumbags any details. Block the number, maybe work out some of your anger by screaming abuse at them as I did.

My mother-in-law has just found a charge for ?99.99 on her Barclays statement. I ve just spoken to the bank and they have been 100% helpful and have agreed to refund her ASAP. When mum-in-law initialy went into the bank to query the transaction they told her that it was a holiday company and assisted her to call them. Answered call on my landline to hear recorded message allegedly forwarded from BT to say that my broadband and telephone line are to be disconnected. I was invited to chose options for further information, which I have not done. As my bills are paid in advance and are up to date I have ignored this. I believe this to be malicious SPAM.
