Just spoken to O2 regarding this number and the calls my wife had been getting. They confirmed that the number does belong to O2 and is not a scam, it is their Customer Research (for want of a better description) calling to ensure she was getting the right deal for her and to see if she wanted to upgrade, so I suppose they re Market Research/Sales. Perfectly safe to answer. If in doubt, just don t give answers to questions you feel uncomfortable about.

This number called me to say that my number has been used in a serious number of crimes and my national insurance number will be suspended if I don’t press 1 to talk to someone. A very friendly guy called me saying he was from Greenpeace after I had signed a Greenpeace petition. He sounded very informative and believable and after a friendly chat he asked me to donate a small amount to Greenpaece. I said I would, and then he started asking me for my bank details so that he could set up a monthly direct debit for me to donate £10 per month. I said I woulld not give details over the phone but he still insisted that I could. I stopped at that point & put down the phone.

This number keeps calling my elderly mother pretending its about a loan she had. They keep providing her with info like date of birth, asking her to confirm expecting her to provide the correct one. When I ring this number it says it is an old number. My 11 year old was with her when they last called and he said they were very pushy and kept asking her to confirm bank details.
