I am suspicious of this phone number. The man phoning spoke good English with a strong accent and was convincing. He told me he was from AV (antiviral program) and that my recent payment of £149 had not gone through. He offered me a discount policy at £29 for the next year. Re The failed bank payment, the bank itself stopped this money and when I spoke to my bank it was decided that the £149 seemed high for an anti viral program and there was a possibility of fraud. They cut themself off mid-sentence after what sounded like someone shouting. Very heavy Indian accent.
Scam and/or phishing attempt. It attempted to get me to message the phone number via WhatsApp. The person had sent an SMS from another number (07566706069) claiming to have dropped their phone down the toilet and that they’d instantly acquired a new phone. They asked me to message specifically via WhatsApp (???). This is the fourth message I’ve had this week, from a variety of unknowns, being asked to message a new number by someone claiming to have lost/damaged their phone.
Didn’t answer when it called. Called back very briefly and it took me an automated reply “Thank you for calling World Lottos…” Scam I imagine.
Yesterday he phoned me from Manchester today from London telling me I had 4000 to come from bitcoin only thing is I didn’t have any money in bitcoin as I withdraw it years ago it has to be a scam
