Received a call, but they hung up within a few seconds of me answering and without saying anything. I called the number back but the call was answered and immediately hung up.

Naughty, naughty pseudo-calling on a daily basis. I now ignore this number, but it is a nuisance to have my peace disturbed by these troglodytes.

Very pushy but convincing girl at the end of the phone - said they were calling because I had entered a competition to win a trip to New York and so was eligible for ten free lines on Euro Millions. This number has range me 3 days on the trot, no voicemail left on any occasion which to me means that it s not important.

Almost certainly a scammer. These calls use spoofed numbers and originate outside the UK. The scammers can spoof any number they want. Block the number if you have the facility.
