They said their number was 02032867657. They tried to get me to run something on my computer but I declined. They asked me to run something else to confirm my customer number and I declined again. They said if I didn't comply there'd be a court action against me but I still declined. When they rang off I rang BT straightaway and they confirmed it was not them and they said they would never ask for such a thing.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 1792917xxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI claims (also reclaim money from holidays) / insurance marketing / energy schemes. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). People did they call you with the same or something new?
This number phoned today. Was an automated phone call saying they were phoning from my credit card after it was used on Amazon and Western Union. . Though I used to work in fraud and security. I can assure you when fraud from the bank phone you they do not use a automated robot to do it. Also they do not give you details of the transactions involved they ask you to check your account and confirm irregular payment going in or out. . Yesterday I had a phone call from someone claiming g to be from the Crime Prevent Unit. He told me had been given my details by Building gas Control at Broadland Council. He asked me if I traded from my address and I said yes. His next question was "is your business doing well?" As I told him I could see no reason to give him that information he muttered something under his breath and hung up. This a scam of some sort and I wish I'd kept him on the line longer to find out but people beware!
