English sounding girl calling from she claimed to be Britains biggest Domestic Insurance company. She put the phone down immediately after I said "Excuse me, who are you?". She knew my name which surprised me. And I say "But, ..." and she put the phone down. No UK Insurance company will cold call you or put the phone down.

They rang me in the evening and said they were from UK Society and hoped I could help them. I replied that i was registered with the TPS so shouldn t be receiving unsolicited calls and asked them how they d got my number. He apologised and mumbled something I didn t catch due to his Indian accent, then carried on with his spiel about how he was sure I could help them! I said I was too busy and put the phone down.

"Technical fault with your BT hub. Please go to your computer so I can fix it for you". Said I was unable to do so at present. He asked "Are you disabled",replied "what a thing to ask"! said "I m in a meeting, not free at the moment" "What meeting". With that I got fed up with playing along and rang off.

They then managed to trigger the Amazon reset password text message and pressured me to give me that code to them, presumably so that they could take control of my Amazon account. A very friendly guy called me saying he was from Greenpeace after I had signed a Greenpeace petition. He sounded very informative and believable and after a friendly chat he asked me to donate a small amount to Greenpaece. I said I would, and then he started asking me for my bank details so that he could set up a monthly direct debit for me to donate £10 per month. I said I woulld not give details over the phone but he still insisted that I could. I stopped at that point & put down the phone.
