A lady with a heavy sub-continent voice called Patricia alleges she is from the non-existent National Repayment Department. She asks for personal details, before asking for your bank details. Answered the call and it was a civil servant helping me with my benefit payments. Perhaps others would rather not hear from the DWP(!) but if you re expecting a call as I was then it s probably best to accept it.

Received an automated call telling me that this is a message from the HMRC. They are investigating me for tax fraud apparently and if I didn't press '1' a warrant will be issued for my arrest immediately. Disgusting and very dangerous, but nice of them to let me know.

I just had a call from them & never picked it up. Assuming from all the comments on here, it sounds like it is Vodafone trying to get hold of the owner of all new phones to either check the service is ok or to check something else.
