SCAM - pretend to be Airbnb wanting a confirmation payment working as part of a group advertising false flats via Facebook marketplace for rent to be booked through Airbnb for a couple of months before going onto a rental agreement with the ‘host’ - once money is paid they say that someone from air bnb will be in touch to hand over keys and sign agreements etc but never hear from them again.

When looked up it’s not connected to any company, personally I’m not waiting for a phone a call from Manchester as I’m from a different area in the UK. Caller initially claimed to be calling from the University of Sussex, asking me to undertake an online research survey. Then they wanted our email address, and I enquired why was that necessary if the survey was online - all they needed to do was provide me with the web address. The caller later later confirmed they were an independent market research company , and continued to ask for my email address. Of course, I never provided it.
