My surname ends with LTY, i got a call from this number and the guy calling kept repeating my surname but ending it TTY, he was finding it very amusing. I hung up and carried on...

Yes this is HSBC. I have an account with them and this was my LOCAL branch calling to make sure I was aware of changes and to ensure I was using the acc correctly. Very pleasant lady and took 5mins of my time. No problem to report.

Almost certainly a scammer. Use the call-blocking system on your mobile or your landline if your provider offers this.

Call from agent for EE, which I managed to get them to verify as the number on my phone came up as possible fraud. My broadband/TV Box price has now been frozen by them for 18 next months, (EE previously sent me warning it would be going up at end of contract date) and a free upgrade to super-fast broadband, from fast.
