Someone claiming to be from "Tenancy Deposit Helpline" asking if we have a private tenancy deposit. Asked where they got our details from, they said from the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, I said surely they'd know if we had a private deposit if that was where they got out details. He hung up.

Advertising Scams. Try to get you to place ads on non existent magazines etc. Pretend to record calls so do not agree to anything. Used to use withheld numbers but now resorting to mobiles to get round call blocking.

Called my elderly grandad just now (isn?t the first time). He couldn?t understand him so passed the phone to me. An Indian man calling from ?Remote Security? and enquiring about a ?computer or laptop in your house? I told him we didn?t have either and he carried on trying to talk, so I repeated that we didn?t have either and to not call again and he hung up. First call. I can t find them on companies house. Was a survey about a recent RTA then they can close my claim down. He was adiment it wasn t a nuisance call. I asked him who my insurer was. He couldn t answer funny how he was calling on behalf of them. Terminated the call and is now on my block list.
I received a text, supposedly from HSBC, advising me that a "payment was attempted to a new payee" and including the following link: https://hs-mobilebanking-paymentsupport.com/hsbc/login The link page it directs you to looks the same as the genuine HSBC login page BUT it is a hoax - DO NOT USE THIS WEBPAGE TO ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT. As I said, it looks good but the give-away is the fact that the links on the page do not work.
