I received a call from somebody claiming to be from SSE. He wanted to talk about a new contract. He didn’t specify whether it was gas or electricity. I asked him to send your new prices by email. He seemed upset by this very simple request stating that it was impossible. I told him to call back when he had sent the email. He rang from this number 2 days later and came out with the same nonsense. He said he was Roger. I hung up and complained to SSE.

Not sure what this was about. I answered and it went silent then someone said hello, knew my email address. Something about a transfer payment being stuck and verifying my data in regards to ID fraud. I had an echo on the line, couldn't hear properly. Caller had strong accent, possibly French. BT Call Guardian took care of it as the spammers/scammers will never bother to 'announce' themselves... they can't when they're using autodiallers to try and connect to as many number as possible. Called from Citizens advice group. I questioned the male caller with a south Asian accent in some detail. He was very helpful. They were calling about debts and he asked what debts we had. I asked him where they got our number and he replied FCA ????????????. I then asked him for the person or department name as I have previously worked with FCA in the past, he didn’t give it to me. He was very polite and said he couldn’t continue. He also said they weren’t authorised in the UK!

SCAM This number appears to the associated with Bank Payment scams because I nearly fell for one, Had an automated message stating from my bank say that they had identified to large debits against my account which were suspicious. When I replied that they were not mine, I was put through to this number and was answered by a man who gave his name as a Paul Butler and stated that he was a member on the bank fraud investigation team. I got suspicious when he told be that this call was confidential.
