Fraud Someone pretending to be from HSBC stating 'a payment was attempted on a NEW DEVICE' ... I don't have a HSBC bank account !!! Beware.

I rang the number back, automated saying "This is a customer satisfaction survey, if you want to remove your number, type it and press #" - we ll see if that works
Block this number if possible, otherwise store it in address book as eg. PEST or DO NOT ANSWER, and ignore/reject each time you re called.
Call centre - "believe that you were involved in a car accident". Not a Stranraer number which is 01776 code.

This came 5 minutes after another "unknown" number that I had just checked on this site and now know know who it was, because I need my tumble dryer fixing before it bursts into flames.

SCAM It's a call from "Microsoft" stating hackers have been attacking my windows machine. I managed to keep the guy on the call for 4 minutes until he realised I was wasting his time when he asked if I'd seen event view before... I work in software development, hopefully wasting his 4 minutes stops another person falling for underhand tactics.
