This number calls me from what appears to be a local line and knew me by name. The guy on the phone told me they'd been informed of "a recent car accident i had..." and that's where I cut him off. Told him I have had no such thing, he was pushing spam calls and to remove me from the system, I also told him I am registered with the telephone preference service and he should not be contacting me. I then hung up. He called straight back and when I answered ready to give him more of an earful he hung

Received a call from 0161 818 2004 earlier this afternoon from an chap with an Indian accent. He enquired about any motor accidents/claim that I may have had in the last 3 years. All he had was my phone number. I was immediately suspicious. He said he had a legal duty to obtain further details (name, address, date of accident, cars involved etc) and that I was legally obliged to supply it. He claimed to be acting on behalf of a bank of insurers, but failed to identify any insurers that I had policies with.
