This number seems to be used for a classical telemarketing, or it is a directly some general call centre. They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with PPI, funeral plans, insurance marketing.
I suspect a scam. Added to my phone book memory facility list on phone. Input these nuisance numbers in so they show up on my screen as caller id: ignore1, ignore2, ignore3 etc After a couple of months can delete off phone book memory, by then they have given up if you don t answer.

Have received 3 calls this week from other numbers starting 0161 to my mobile, and nw this one. They all only rang a couple of times, not long enough to look at the number and decide if I was going to answer or not, before the caller hung up. Having read the comments, I have now blocked both numbers.

A so called broker trying to sell electricity. I told them that we have solar panels and don t buy electricity, we sell it so would they like to buy some. They repeat call so obviously don t get the message.
See previous comment. These Jingly bar stewards just call a slightly different number making the BT call blocker a complete and utter waste of timer. BT are just a bunch of fraudsters as well and will do nothing to prevent these nuisance calls as are the Government and Offcom. Another valid point is that when someone states on their merchandise "STOPS UP TO 99% OF NUSIANCE CALLS" I would suggest that 1% is up to 99% and they should be prosecuted under the Trades Description Act.
