I had a call from an immigrant this morning saying that they were from Microsoft, and that there was a big problem with my computer which they needed to fix. At this point I told them that they were too late, as someone from their number had already called me about the problem yesterday and fixed it for me. Receieved a call from this number a few minutes ago. Not sure why someone from Oswestry would want to call me but answered anyway. Very obviously a call centre fronm the background noise so I was quite happy to have a chat but unfortunately the call was dropped. Oh well, no fun to be had here so 01691 numbers are blocked.

SCAM- scammers posing as SANTANDER. They’ll message you as SANTANDER (seems legitimate) saying you will receive a text message from the above number in a few minutes. The text from above number asks you to help save the environment by going paper free by receiving your bank statements, documents and letters via email rather than the post. It said it will send me an email with my actual email address in the text, which I can see would again seem very legitimate). It said type ‘YES’ to go paper free. DO NOT!

Recorded message purportedly from HMRC. Apparently I owe them money ( I don’t by the way). I recently had a similar call from a different number to my landline, also supposedly from HMRC but that one was telling me there was a warrant out for my arrest for non payment of tax! Too ridiculous for words but anyone who is vulnerable could easily be frightened by calls like this.
