I didn't recognise the number so let it go to answer machine. they didn't leave a message, so I called them back and the number was answered and was silent? I presume it was a machine/automated call but not sure.

SCAM - Pretending to be National Crime Agency notifying you that your National Insurance Number is being frozen and all your assets along with it. Probably an Indian/Pakistani poor idea for a scam. This company is a nuisance caller called debt masters , Please avoid as when you call the number bask they will not take incoming calls block this number as they are very untrustworthy and do not give them any of your details AVOID as they are a SCAM!

A Manchester number, so thought is was someone I know. However it was an unpleasant person who identified themselves as being from a company called Motor Investigations. He wanted to talk about insurance. I asked him why he was calling and he was aggressive. I hung up. Definitely a scam of some sort.
This was a car hire company arranging a replacement car for me following an accident, so definitely worth answering!
