A very friendly guy called me saying he was from Greenpeace after I had signed a Greenpeace petition. He sounded very informative and believable and after a friendly chat he asked me to donate a small amount to Greenpaece. I said I would, and then he started asking me for my bank details so that he could set up a monthly direct debit for me to donate £10 per month. I said I woulld not give details over the phone but he still insisted that I could. I stopped at that point & put down the phone.

I have stopped answering these suspicious calls for the time being - too busy. As with the one I received at the same time yesterday, when I was having breakfast, I concluded the caller was another criminal trying to persuade me to give them access to my computer so they could infect it. That is because the majority of the calls I get are of that nature. The likelihood was all the greater because, like yesterday s call, it was purportedly from an area where I do not know anyone.

A young Welshman phoned my mobile today. After an unusual and suspicious delay ("Hello? Hello? Caller identifies they are from Choice UK but always put the phone down when asked for their head office address. Calls are now twice to three times a day.
