Just spoken to O2 regarding this number and the calls my wife had been getting. They confirmed that the number does belong to O2 and is not a scam, it is their Customer Research (for want of a better description) calling to ensure she was getting the right deal for her and to see if she wanted to upgrade, so I suppose they re Market Research/Sales. Perfectly safe to answer. If in doubt, just don t give answers to questions you feel uncomfortable about.

Caller claimed to be from a government department in reference to an accident 18 months ago, and persisted even when I said our number was registered with the TPS. Fairly threatening, saying that if I didn t cooperate my son might be in trouble because his file would remain open .

Introduced himself as from Virgin Media. Usual Indian accent which is not an issue given the number of services now operated from Mumbai. My signal was poor and call ended, either my signal or them, no details asked for thus neutral rating.

5/6 calls every day for last week. No one there if I pick up. Don't know who they are now blocked.

This number keeps calling my elderly mother pretending its about a loan she had. They keep providing her with info like date of birth, asking her to confirm expecting her to provide the correct one. When I ring this number it says it is an old number. My 11 year old was with her when they last called and he said they were very pushy and kept asking her to confirm bank details.

Its not just AO I just received a call from a young woman claiming to be from boots appliances, in the pretence of confirming delivery details etc. In fact her sole purpose was to sell insurance cover! She repeated every detail of my delivery, which I already know, told me they can remove my old appliance, which I already know etc etc etc then asked me why my old appliance was broken! I asked for my name to be removed from their database as I was unlisted and also on the telephone preference scheme (TPS)I was told that was irrelevant because they were acting on behalf of the Government.
