Fraud. Called by this number pretending to be the HMRC in the UK advising me that my name had been used for a fraud case and that if I didn't follow the instructions a warrant would be put out for my arrest. Obviously fraud as HMRC don't operate like that.

Believe that this number could be associated with Bank Payment scams. I had an automated call from the bank stating that they has identified to suspicions payments against my account and would I confirm 'yes'; or 'no'. When I confirmed that I knew nothing about them I was put through this number which was answered by a man who gave his name as a Paul Butler and stated that he was a member of the Bank Fraud team. Indian/Pakistani ? man called to say my BT service Lloyds Bank Direct Debit needed verifying, I played along and gave false numbers on my debit card (to see how far they wished to go), they already new my name , address, phone number. Well, actually I don't bank at Lloyds anyway!, they then asked for my DOB, so I gave a false one of course.
