this is a computer dialling numbers randomly. if no call centre staff are available to take the call it hangs up the call. ofcom should ban these calls.

This number called today saying he was calling from the call blocking service and wanted me to confirm the expiree date of my bank card. Refused and he dropped the call I refused

Calls are at least - being stopped by Call Guardian which is built into the phone. So, the phone rings once, the Guardian kicks in and asks for the caller s identity. However, since this has never been given (and any such call is then terminated by Guardian), we assume they coming from an automated system. We just wish the system would give up on us!

A woman with a West African accent phoned me at 4.30 pm on 12th July 2012. She asked me how my "claim" was progressing and whether she could help. Obviously a telemarketing call because there was the usual buzz of conversation in the background. The annoying thing is that I m on the Telephone Preference List of people who should *NOT* be contacted by telemarketers. Unfortunately, it doesn t seem to have worked in this case. Got Amazon parcel delivered, then my phone rang but no one on other end. Not sure if related, but it looks like it from what others are saying.

Hotpoint genuine caller. - I Missed a call from this number while at work. Received a very polite and informative voicemail from Hotpoint in relation to the part now being in stock for my washing machine repair and date for repair provided.
