I think they tried calling last week, then again today to my unlisted mobile phone number (11th Nov). I answered, saying my name; there was a pause then an unintelligible garble for a few seconds and then they put the phone down! Answered the phone to someone saying they were from HMRC and I owed money and if I didn't press 1 to talk someone would be around to arrest me. I'm still waiting....................

If you Google the number, it comes back to Brother. 0333 numbers are used in the UK and known as non-geographic but are (supposedly) cheaper than 08 and 09 numbers.

Got this call today so looked it up on this site. One thing though - if it s clear pretty quickly that it s a cold caller that you don t want to speak to, just say "no" and put the phone down. No need for a polite conversation. No need for "no thank you very much". Just put the phone down. They are being extremely rude by intruding into your day so you allowed to be rude back by just hanging up straight away. Much easier for you.

claim I completed an online survey (I haven t) trying to get me to sign up for PPI or accident claims and compensation, told them I m not interested and on TPS register. Requested them to remove me from their calling list (doubt they will as they are VERY persistant)

This number seemed to be a crossed line as lady on the phone was talking to someone else although the other persons voice was muffled.

Is it Lloyds ppi claims? They keep calling and hanging up perhaps just to register they've attempted to make contact!?
