They then managed to trigger the Amazon reset password text message and pressured me to give me that code to them, presumably so that they could take control of my Amazon account. Phoned to tell me my washing machine warranty has expired and they're sending me the new paperwork by Royal Mail. Read out to me my name and address and when I confirmed these was going to pass me to her "supervisor" to complete a form. Asked her to tell me what brand of washing machine I've actually got. Unsurprisingly she hung up. Don't know what the scam was going to be but clearly there is one

Woman called and stated that she is from Alpine Services. She said that she was informed that I recently had a car accident and whether this was correct. I said "no" and hung up. Mind you, I don t even have a driver s license for UK and certainly no car.
