SCAM / SPAM Caller stated 'washing machine warranty is running out, you happy to continue the cover' I suggested it was a bit of a leading question as he was undoubtedly going to charge me for the cover. Caller claimed 'well you paid for it the last time'. Stated I have never bought an extended warranty for my washing machine, caller said 'OK mate' and hung up. Vast majority of calls to my aged mothers landline are these silent calls or marketing.
Mobile phone spam / scam / fraud. Scammers pretend to call from Currys Mobile department. They will sign you up on a completely different deal than agreed initially with the most expensive phone available. They use several phone numbers some of them on Whatsapp. Also will e-mail an order confirmation from an address that seems genuine. It's not. After receiving the parcel they will try to convince you to send the phone back to some shady residential address. Avoid!

This person claimed to be an officer calling from 'the HMRC' claiming that I had paid insufficient tax- revealed apparently after a 5 year audit (I owed £3999.99 allegedly). This wasn't true of course. DO NOT EVEN SPEAK TO THESE PEOPLE. Do not transfer ANY money. They will try and prove themselves by calling you back on a number that IS the HMRC number but this of course has been manufactured!
