Caller pretending to be from HMRC. Claims a lawsuit is filed against the caller for tax evasion. This is a current (Jan 2021) scam that targets the elderly and vulnerable and is known to HMRC. Number is non-existent when one tries to call back

People did someone answer this number? I had few missed calls from this one, probably some call centre robocaller testing my number? I don't answer unknown numbers and they left no message. I was trying to dig some info on the internet, don't want to call them back until I know who might be calling but no luck. Some idea who is it?

male caller said from HMRC and with the local Police too - talking about outstanding tax due and if I did not pay I would be arrested - once I sent the money from the details given over the telephone I had time to think that this was an unusual set up - I called the real HMRC to establish this is a scam

Called twice today, 15.50 16.09 Hrs. Total Nuiscance caller, TPS means nothing to Companies like these anymore, they should be prosecuted and fined large ammounts of money. which in turn should be used to prosecute others similar nuisance callers.Stan
