I believe this to be a telephone/banking scam. They purported to be my bank but they said they wanted me to open another account and transfer money from my account into this other account - at that point I stopped the call and called the number on the back of my debit card and reported the call to my bank fraud department.

I missed a call on my mobile from 01422315229. I called them back from my work phone (As it withholds my number) and the company would not give me their name, what they may have wanted, what they do as a company or how they got a number I ve only had for two days.

Indian sounding genteleman called, asked me if I was Mr >>>> XXXXXX. He got my name correct but I lied and said "No". He then asked are you a family member? I said "No". He obviously realised I wasn t telling him the truth and he started pretending to cry that I wasn t a family member! Then just hung up. This sort of thing wouldn t normally bother me but the call started identically to a worrying scam that happened earlier today. SCAM They left a voicemail saying something about me not being able to use my national insurance number anymore. The voicemail was a digital voice and the message was incomplete. Tried calling back as I always like to wind them up but they didn't answer. I've blocked their number and if it was genuine then I'm sure they'll find another way to communicate with me.
Claimed to be HSBC (not even with them) suggested tax fraud somehow related to me, and that not following their instructions would lead to my arrest. Clearly fraudulent.
