No idea who it was, called the number back and the number appears to be a defunct. as a precaution block the number and avoid as likely to be a spam.

Yes, they are still operating and looks like they are having a New Year hunt for more people to con, as several friends have had calls from them over the past few days. I take great delight in stringing them along for as long as possible, listening to them get more and more frustrated as I keep asking questions about their blocking box . This is a scam number claiming that they are from the "financial markets" that will try and access your system through a remote access application. If they do not succeed this way they will attempt to take your card details including the security details on the back of your card.

Telemarketing Just had a call from this number telling i would get 10 free lines on the euro, i said how much is this going to cost me, apparently i get so many lines on tuesday and so many line on friday for £39 a month for 3 months if i don't win i get my money back, i said so this is going to cost me £120 over 3 months no thanks give my lines to someone else,i thought £39 a month is a lot of money to win at least £2.80

A recorded voice indicates an outstanding tax issue. Asking you to press 1 to be connected. Failure to do so will result in a warrant for your arrest (on the grounds of tax fraud) being issued. Her Majesty's Inspector of taxes would not phone if there was an issue. They would write to you. They know your address, but fraudsters and scammers like this do not. Do not press to accept the call. if you do they will know the number is in use an probably sell your number on to more scammers.

As in the other comment I was told to ring 01642850850 - this is useless. It asks you to give the name of the person and offers no other option. Since I don t know who called I was at a dead end
SCAM purporting to be from the inland revenue saying there is a fraud on my account and if I don't press 1 there police will come to arrest me!

Fraud , indian female , claiming she was from virgin media, asking if i was aware my broadband would be cut off in a couple of hours as there had been a lot of illegal activity from my account. she hung up after i pushed her to give me information about my account. i am not sure whether it was passwords or payments she was after but she got nada from me and hung up.

Just had a call from this number, an asian lady called Kate Brown(???) who said that my IP address was being used by others around the world so they will be cancelling user licence on my IP address. Part of a block-dialing network usually starting with 020 8058 xxxx, phone rings, if you answer call is hung up. No doubt part of a vile scammer outfit using auto-dialers - I get 020 8058 calls a couple of times a month.
