My solution is to leave my BT Aura answering machine on receive, and note my caller display before picking up the phone...... my friends wait to see if I answer, and knowing that all Incoming recorded messages are completely garbled and indecipherable, and that I will use 1471 and ring them back when I m available, they don t waste their time and money trying to leave a message. Within a few minutes of getting another call from so-called B.T. technical department I got this one, from a different but equally fictitious number. I let the woman gabble on for a few minutes. In her foreign accent she was not clear. I kept telling her so until she rang off. These crooks obtained my number as a result of a Talk Talk leak a few years ago.

interesting - it was my own number which I don t of course ring - some clever spoofer I guess but a bit unnerving. I did not ring myself - I was busy watching the snooker!
