I was called today by an Asian woman who said she was from BT. I asked her for her EIN employee Identification number. She gave me a number in the wrong format. When I told that was not an EIN she put the phone down. Be vigilant with these types of calls

I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. All my contacts come up as named entries. Phone usually rings a few times with unknown numbers to me, goes to the answer phone and no message is generally left, so I check via this web site in case it could be a safe number, but so far never has been. It is worth the effort to put all your contacts into your phone, it saves older people much distress.

An Asian male going by the name of "Mark Bradford" rang is claiming our broadband was going to be disconnected due to suspicious stuff happening on our homehub. He gave me a BT identification number and the phone number to their call centre, when I informed him I was going to verify his credentials, he told me to ring via mobile and that if we hang up the landline, he'll disconnect the Internet then hung up. I said I was not prepared to give my details and asked them to remove my telephone number. She said thats not possible as its regarding a business issue so we will call back another time. I said you will get the same answer no matter when you called back. She said thats fine we will just call back another time. I shall be reporting them to OFCOM as this is illegal.
