Following a search on GoCompare your details are passed to these guys who call offering a better quote and ask you to hold the line while they transfer you to another company who has no idea who you are. I guess they get kick backs for getting you there.

Received call from busy overseas call centre claiming to be BT. When I pointed out that yesterdays call was reported as a fraud to the police she hung up. SCAM Call from a foreign gentleman with no control of the English language. He advised he was calling about a recent accident claim. I shouted I was frustrated by the length of time it took him to get back to me, his colleague contacted me several months ago, he apologised and asked me to confirm the nature of my accident. I explained it occured while driving on the M25 I heard an enormous explosion and had to swerve to avoid an oncoming attack by the North Korean Military headed by Kim Jung-un. He hung up.
