Paid number This number appeared twice in my mobile phone bill as chargeable "Picture or Multimedia Messages". I have no idea who the number belongs to. This mobile phone is a "second phone" which has only been used to make one phone call and send one SMS text.- I've used it for data and local wifi data connections. I'm guessing there's an app or website I've used that somehow is sending these multimedia messages?

This is a SCAM. They called me pretending to be Sky and asking about my broadband. I work in IT so my knowledge is quite broad. What they try and do is get you to visit a website that enables them to take over your machine. They then hold you to ransom to "fix" (release) your machine. Avoid at all costs. Just put the phone down.

He asked me to confirm if I was Mrs A............. of my address. Saying he had a message to call about the insurance on my house. I said I did not know who he was and he said is that Mrs A of my address again and that he had just started work but it was given to him by a previous colleague. Absolutely wrong. I just hung up. I just spoke to BT - evidently this is an international company beyond the reach of TPS, using the 01603 290004 number as a dummy call ID to mask the fact it is an international call so that it doesn t appear as International on lines with Caller ID. Is generally believed to be a scam aiming to get access to bank account details for the purposes of defrauding. Nothing BT or TPS can do - Government are the only ones with the power to stop these types of calls.
