Got the telephone call this morning, £600.00 was mentioned on the automated voice message, hung up as the bank does not have my work number
Was called by this number and when answered it played a recording stating that it was Amazon wanting to know if I wanted to renew my Amazon Prime account. If I did, I should press "1". Having cancelled my Amazon Prime account few months ago and having ordered something two days ago, I knew that I didn't have a Prime account. After being scammed before are very wary of cold calls and scams. However, this one was picked up without really looking or thinking but I must say this seems a dangerous one because this did sound almost genuine with (as above, claiming to be HMRC). In our case, the line just went dead after it told us to press one to speak to an officer. This is one that could catch unexpecting people out so be careful! We keep it as rule that if in any doubt, ONLY answer numbers that are 0800 or gov numbers (030) unless

I was called by someone calling himself "Yogi" allegedly from Carphone Warehouse and I renewed my contract through him with Vodafone. The incentive being a substantial cash back deal. The cheques never appeared and Vodafone do not know anything about the deal (so they say). Vodafone are refusing to honour the deal and I have reported them to trading standards and the communications commission as they are saying they cannot see on their system who renewed the contract.
