I did not answer, but a google search led me to this site, so I'm popping the info here. I have now blocked the caller in any case so job done.

Caller said there was a problem with my computer. Asked him if he was same person making a similar call from a withheld number earlier today who used foul abusive language when I asked if he had heard of the telephone preference service. This time the caller rang off immediately.

A Manchester number, so thought is was someone I know. However it was an unpleasant person who identified themselves as being from a company called Motor Investigations.
