Called from opus. Claiming I owe a debt from 2008-2019 for Northumbrian water. Considering I was 18 and living at home at the time I explained this was untrue. Just heard of Wright stuff programme, 0845 numbers, even if it s only a second your phone provider is chargeing you like you called the number, people have had bills upto £300 and they will not listen to reason you supposedly called the number so you pay your extortionate bill, we live in a world of faceless thieves, beware
Pretending to be a bank- received a text about new payee set up on my bank account. I’m not a customer of the bank they claim to be fro .
SCAM - Seems to be a call centre as noisy line. Tried to obtain bank details etc under false pretences, alleging an engineer from BT has detected problems on my home landline and that without rectification I could incur £+ costs but if remedial action is taken quickly charges may be reduced. I asked for their engineer and departmental details but got nowhere so advised would call BT myself and the caller rang off. One for OfCom and other authorities.
