I was called by someone calling himself "Yogi" allegedly from Carphone Warehouse and I renewed my contract through him with Vodafone. The incentive being a substantial cash back deal. The cheques never appeared and Vodafone do not know anything about the deal (so they say). Vodafone are refusing to honour the deal and I have reported them to trading standards and the communications commission as they are saying they cannot see on their system who renewed the contract. This number rang today, asked about my soffits. Very annoying as this is a local Rochdale number and I usually answer those since it might be someone I want to speak to!

Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.
